Founded in 2005, Change A Life is Computershare’s charitable foundation that aims to empower people facing economic challenges around the world. Since then, we have raised AU$12 million, in partnership with our employees who donate to Change A Life via regular payroll donations, each of which is matched by Computershare.
The money has been used to fund sustainable agriculture and reforestation, food security, mobile eye care clinics, disaster relief and a range of programs for children who have needed education or welfare support.
Supporting the World Youth International School in Nepal
Employee supporters choose which major global projects we sponsor, and since 2017, Change A Life’s global project has been supporting the World Youth International School in Nepal’s Gokarna region.
World Youth International is an organization committed to backing community-led, sustainable development projects. They opened the school in 1999, training local teachers and providing quality education to more than 750 children from grades 1 to 12. The support we have provided to date has expanded and upgraded the school.
Computershare employees Trek Nepal
In November 2023, a group of 26 staff from the US and Canada embarked on a challenging trek through the Himalayas. Participants raised over US$138,000 which was donated to the World Youth International School in Nepal.
The funds bought two new school buses to reduce the time many students spend traveling to and from school. Surpassing the original goal of US$100,000, the additional funds went to fitting out new classrooms and supporting wages for new teachers to improve the learning experience of students.
In addition to completing the trek, participants visited the school to meet with students and teachers, connecting through fun activities, and ended the trip by personally delivering the buses.
Trek Nepal was truly a once in a lifetime experience and an emotional journey for trekkers, and everyone had their own reasons for wanting to support this worthy cause.
